“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching”
As a motoring enthusiast himself Bruce Sharman has spent most of his adult life involved in a motoring project of some kind, Bruce became avidly interested in researching and restoring vintage and classic vehicles in 1986, when he restored to concours quality, a Panther Motorcycle in the loft of his London apartment back in the 1980's. Bruce continued this passion over the years that followed completing full or partial restorations on a variety of vehicles and learning skills at TAFE and at the feet of some of the classic cars “elder statesmen” he admires.
On a trip to England in 2004 Bruce visited many of the companies he traded with and discovered that a large number were based in country locations and in farm buildings or homes. Bruce recognized that if the service is top quality the customer will come and on return to Western Australia settled on a place in Toodyay to build his dream of a small enterprise operating with integrity to offer a personalized service.
After two years assisting a local company to set up Bruce has now established his own venture Bygone Spares and Restorations Inc Octagon Manufacturing, situated in the pretty Toodyay landscape, offering a service that is committed to excellence and you, the customer with your unique vision and requirements. Bygone Spares and Restorations Inc Octagon manufacturing is a family affair and when you deal with us our family warmth, humour and genuine interest in you and your project shines through.
Bruce’s great networks and extensive resource library also enables him to provide you with historical information about your car. He also offers a spare parts service worldwide.
Bruce works closely with other professionals to bring your restoration to completion at the high standard he prides himself upon and you expect.
In 2009 Bruce was privileged to be mentored and trained by Vic Longdon from Octagon Manufacturing. Vic had been in the business for 30 years manufacturing Lucas Vintage Wiring Harnesses. Vic sadly passed away and Bruce is now proudly incorporating this business into his own and intends to maintain Vic’s outstanding reputation and attention to detail
